I was a user during the ezBoard days of the forums. I was much more active then than I am now. I do recall being considered for moderator once [1], but that happened just as I drifted off the first time. I've drifted off a couple more times since then (and since switching from ezBoard to PhpBB, then to vBulletin). However, I returned during the Great Thanksgiving 2006 OLS.Net Reunion after getting an IM about it from RD, who has since been banned :(

My Wiki Projects

The rest of this user page shall serve as an extended profile to my message board profile.

Anime/Manga

Favorite Genres

  • Sci-fi/Mecha
  • Fantasy
  • Harem
  • Slice of Life - I really hate this genre name, but I can't think of anything better. It seems to be fairly widely used, so I guess I'll have to put up with it.
  • Comedy

Random stuff about recent anime

  • Chäos;HEad - Looking like it's going to be a harem mindfuck series. The main character is an otaku with an imaginary female friend. There are many things that can be noticed if one watches the first episode multiple times. Sub group is m.3.3.w again.
  • Shikabane Hime: Aka - Shikabane are undead beings. The main female is one. She fights other Shikabane with her uzis. Latest Gainax series is awesome. Lunar's subs are awesome. Awesome is awesome. It's already got a planned second season, titled Shikabane Hime: Kuro.
  • Gundam 00 Season 2 - It's been 4 years since the first season. Shit gets going immediately. The Gundam Meisters need to regroup somewhat. Louise joins the military. Saji gets captured and forced to work in a high gravity environment for a group the Federation is out to destroy. Setsuna finds people and brings them together. Marina Ismail... she's still around. Menclave is being Slowclave, so hello gg & BSS.
  • Sekirei - Fanservice plus battle royale. 108 beings called Sekirei are scattered throughout the city. They have to find their Ashikabi and be winged via a kiss. Once all Sekirei have been winged, they fight to the death. It's getting a second season because the first didn't actually finish the main plot. Chihiro's subs here, and somehow I managed to avoid the random DMCA notices that were flying at people who watched this series without knowing they were happening until the end.
  • Telepathy Shoujo Ran - It started out looking like a decent supernatural action series, but after the first story arc kinda changed into a slower-moving mystery-solving type series. I keep wanting to say it's Scooby Doo without the dog and the subtle drug references but with telepathy and telekinesis (and other mental powers). Hopefully their teacher will come back and start mixing things up again, and maybe they'll explain what exactly Rui is since nobody can read his mind and he seems to amplify powers as evidenced by the first arc. The only group that's current is m.3.3.w.
  • Lucky Star OAV - Oh hell yes. Unfortunately, the only translation released so far is really shitty. However, we do get to see a 5 minute long segment done completely within an MMO, Kagami dressed as a maid, a shrine maiden, Tohsaka Rin (from Fate/Stay Night), and Hatsune Miku. There's yet another hint at everyone's favorite yuri pairing, Konata x Kagami, or Konami for short. IN AFTER DECENT SUBS, Eien no Anime has subbed it. Lucky Channel is meh. The animated ones were better, though Minoru getting sprayed in the face with a hose when he asked for some water was funny.

Games

PC

See the specs here

  • Guild Wars Prophecies/Factions/Nightfall/Eye of the North - Got my new power supply, can play the game again.
  • Unreal Tournament
  • Unreal Tournament 2003
  • Unreal Tournament 2004 - totally not downloaded over the LAN at MAGFest 6.
  • Warpath 97
  • Dungeon Siege/DS: Legends of Aranna - Hate the single player but love the multiplayer
  • Eternal Fighter Zero - a pretty kickass doujin fighter
  • Melty Blood Re-Act Final Tuned - another kickass doujin fighter.
  • Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator - I have 15 gigs of roms to go with it ;)
  • ZSNES - I have a fairly large rom collection here as well.
  • various hentai games, just for the hell of it

Game I won't be buying

  • Diablo 3 - Not buying it if it still looks like World of Diablocraft when it's released. Give us the dark and gothic color schemes of the first two games that *gasp* fit the universe and story and I'll probably buy it.

Other PC

See the specs here

lol it went back to being a server

a shitty one too since it runs ubuntu

Wallpapers

I collect anime wallpapers. Therefore I lurk (and occasionally post) in a certain popular imageboard's anime wallpapers board. You can see all the wallpapers I have right now here.

PSX/PS2

My PS2 is modded with a DMS4 Pro modchip, running ToxicOS 0.41. Most of my games are installed on my 200GB hard drive so they load much faster and are much more easily portable.

Since I own more PS2 games than PSX games, this list is assumed to be PS2 games from the American region unless otherwise specified.

  • Burnout 3: Takedown
  • DDRMAX Dance Dance Revolution (lol DDR, dancing to shitty techno music, I remember when that used to be fun)
  • Dark Cloud
  • Final Fantasy Chronicles (PSX): (bought it just for Chrono Trigger)
    • Final Fantasy 4 (bleh)
    • Chrono Trigger (got all my characters to max level!)
  • Frogger (PSX)
  • Garou: Mark of the Wolves (Japanese)
  • Grand Theft Auto 3
  • Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
  • Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (w/Hot Coffee though I lack the code)
  • Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec
  • Guilty Gear X
  • Guilty Gear XX
  • Guilty Gear XX #Reload (Korean) (The Korean version has an entirely different soundtrack in addition to the regular one, as well as different voices and a Korean translation for Story Mode. Also has one more stage, that Faust and Chipp fight on instead of their normal stages.)
  • Guilty Gear XX Slash (Japanese)
  • Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus (Japanese) (The original Japanese release of Accent Core was full of bugs, those bugs were fixed in the US version, and then the bigfix was shipped back over the pond to Japan and was released there as Accent Core Plus, with a few extra goodies just to say "fuck you" to the US fans)
  • Guilty Gear Isuka
  • Guitar Hero 3 (The detachable neck on the guitar was the worst decision ever. Fixable by putting a small blob of solder on the contacts on the neck, but still annoying.)
  • Katamari Damacy
  • Mega Man Anniversary Collection
  • Melty Blood: Act Cadenza (Japanese)
  • Midway Arcade Treasures
  • Namco Museum
  • Nascar Rumble (PSX) - predecessor to Rumble Racing
  • Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
  • Prince of Persia: Warrior Within
  • Q*Bert (PSX)
  • Rez (Japanese, though I don't have the usb vibrator accessory)
  • Ridge Racer V
  • The Rumble Fish (Japanese)
  • Rumble Racing
  • Taz: Wanted
  • Tekken 3 (PSX)
  • Vib Ribbon (Japanese, PSX) - This is the game with the vector graphics crack rabbit. You dodge obstacles which appear according to the beat of the music. Best part: you can insert your own audio CDs for it to generate levels off of. Infinite replayability.
  • Virtual On: Marz
  • War of the Monsters
  • We Love Katamari

PSP

BRICK! Awaiting Pandora's Battery.

Games are from the American region unless otherwise specified.

  • Bleach: Heat The Soul (Japanese)

  • Ridge Racer

Gamecube

My Gamecube is tricked out with an ethernet adapter and a gameboy player.

  • Custom Robo
  • Donkey Konga 2
  • Mario Kart: Double Dash!!

Gameboy/Gameboy Color/Gameboy Advance

The only way I can play my one GBA cartridge is via the gameboy player on my gamecube ;)

  • Bill Elliot's NASCAR Fast Tracks (GB) (This game is a piece of shit, and it's a long story as to why I have it in the first place)
  • Donkey Kong Land (GB/Super GB)
  • Galaga (GBC) (POS)
  • Tetris (GB)
  • The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX (GB/GBC (with special GBC-only dungeon!))
  • The Lost Vikings (GBA) (This game is awesome)
  • Spy vs. Spy (GBC) (POS)
  • X-Men Mutant Academy (GBC) (This game is a piece of shit, all you need to do to beat it is crouch and mash buttons. This makes survival mode pathetically easy.)
  • Yoshi (GB)

At some point, a Wii

(once I have a job and can find one)

  • Excite Truck
  • Mario Kart Wii - I've seen the trailers, it looks great
  • Wii Sports (lol, not much of a choice, it comes with it)

PlayStation 3

(once it becomes reasonably priced)

  • Ridge Racer 7 - I liek Ridge Racer
  • Any new Guilty Gear games that come out for it
  • Any decent racing games that come out for it

Nintendo DS

(once I have a job)

  • Chrono Trigger DS (I liek Chrono Trigger)
  • Contra 4
  • Guilty Gear Dust Strikers
  • Mario Kart DS
  • Tetris DS

Fun Stuff

I like to take video games and try to do stuff they never intended for you to do, like getting items or whatnot waaaay the hell before you're supposed to, or just in general anything that "breaks" a game and makes it easier.

My current project is with Chrono Trigger. Since I have the PSX version with the special extras mode, I need to achieve all 12 endings in order to completely unlock all the extras. So, this is three projects bundled into one:

  • Get everyone their skills/spells as soon as possible (to make the early/mid game easier)
  • Get everyone levelled up to level 99 (represented in the game as level **) (to make everything else easier)
    • Achieved with 74:59 on my save file
  • Max out everyone's stats with speed, power, and magic tabs (to make defeating Lavos even easier)

Getting the tabs needed to max everyone out is going to take multiple play-throughs of the game, however, getting everyone to max level didn't. Everyone is now at level **, and I have yet to defeat Lavos.

I'm on track for the true ending right now, as I've done all the side quests save for Black Omen, which leads straight into the Lavos fight anyway. I've seen a Programmer's Ending speed run and now know exactly how to defeat Lavos with only Crono and Marle, so I expect that one will be next.

So, yeah. If you need tips on defeating a certain foe/boss, just ask on my talk page or something. I've kept extensive notes, and while my notes are for my superpowered characters, they'll work with an extra "heal everyone up" step in there periodically.

Other Personal Data

Name: Chris Beazell

Age: 25

Location: Charlottesville, VA (that puts me on Eastern Time, GMT -5)

Profession: None currently, though skilled in web design and network administration

Interests: Computers, Anime, Video Games, Food

Other information: I practice kendo at Atlantic Coast Athletic Club. The name of the dojo is Myo Sim Karate and Kendo. Our kendo has four belts: white, green, brown, and black. I am currently a brown belt, and don't think I'll be ready to test for black belt until summer of 2009 at the earliest (our dojo holds a black belt test every summer). Our kendo is real kendo and not that sport kendo faggotry.

I also staff a video game convention called MAGFest. It's a yearly occurrence of awesomeness. No matter how you prefer to get your game on, be it console, PC, arcade, or tabletop; there's a place for you at MAGFest. M6 was awesome and the hotel actually invited us back for next year. The carpets they had were really good on sock feet/bare feet, and either the hotel staff didn't mind it, or I was never caught. Even when we had the fire evacuation and I was standing around outside on a cold concrete patio in my sock feet for 10 minutes.

MAGFest 7 has been scheduled, it's January 1-4, 2009 at the Hilton Mark Center in Alexandria, VA. Preregister and come join us for a gamers' New Year's party.

I've also got a few contributions up on GameFAQs. I have a 101KB FAQ for an underappreciated racing game that came out in 2001 called Rumble Racing. My FAQ averages two views a day, and has done so consistently since I originally wrote it in 2004, so it's obvious to me that people are still playing this game somewhere (and needing help!)

I'm one of the two admins of the website for UVa's Comics and Animation club (titled CAINE, though what that acronym actually expands to is beyond retarded, we just use the acronym for short naming purposes). I was the one that introduced the mod/admin only feature that adds (USER WAS BANNED FOR THIS POST) to a post when the link is clicked. We've now switched the site over from using phpBB (which is a pile of shit) to our own in-house creation called lulzbb. We gained the advantage of a codebase that isn't shitty, but have the disadvantage of not yet having written any moderation tools. We're slowly getting that in there now, mods and admins can edit other people's posts, but the rest of the forum moderation tasks (moving threads, etc.) has to be done via the database, and only us two admins have access to it.

On the plus side, now every user has a field in the database called "clue", so I can do the following query:

SELECT * FROM users WHERE clue>0

And see MySQL spit out "0 rows returned" and laugh to myself.

Links

  • My MyAnimeList profile - much better way to catalog what I've seen and whatnot.
  • My new blog - I only update when there's actual stuff to be said, so usually once every two-three days.
  • My YouTube channel - Just exists so I could build a list of favorites.
  • My Google Picasa account - full of anime wallpapers, updated on a regular basis
  • pImgDB - Just got around to getting this going (I had to install .FAIL 2.0 since it's written in C#), it's awesome. Image organization was never easier. File names and directory structures are a shitty way of storing metadata when compared with tags. It has a wallpaper changer which I was hoping to use so I could free myself from the pile of shit that is Winwall, but it needs a little work first since it doesn't resample the image and letterbox/pillarbox it to your current resolution.
