The Story

Vincent was at one time a senior ranking administrator of OutlawStar.net, known at that time by the alias, "ssjbigguy" and later as "SSJVinnieG". Although no longer a member of the staff, he is a long time member of the community as well as its most active poster.

Vincent was initially made a member of the staff due to his interest in Outlaw Star and his contributions to the discussions on the forums. His role as webmaster of the Outlaw Star fansite Starwind Network, led to an increase in prominence as an outspoken administrator. At the time, the site functioned as a collaboration between OutlawStar.net and OutlawStar.org, so the addition of Vincent's site was a move that would allow for three of the major fansites to all pool their communities into a comprehensive whole. As Vincent was more active in the community than the head administrator AKosygin, his authority on matters concerning the community became increasingly emphasized. Indeed, his addition as a staff member was welcomed by many as the community had previously had trouble dealing with a number of users on matters of inane posts, flaming and spam, which by and large were cleaned up under Vincent's leadership.

In spite of this, criticisms were eventually made citing Vincent as taking an overly harsh approach in his treatment of members, particularly those relatively new to the community and unfamiliar with message board protocol. In addition to this, further criticisms were made of Vincent himself breaking forum rules by writing derogatory remarks to other members. After links to pornographic images posted on OutlawStar.net by Vincent were reported to AKosygin, Vincent was subsequently demoted to moderator, at which point he began systematically deleting threads from the message board. Following this, Vincent's moderator title was removed and he was banned from OutlawStar.net completely [1]. Some time later, he reappeared, posting sporadically under the alias "BigBlueMonkey". More recently, Vincent has reappeared under his current alias. [2] under which he has reestablished himself as a productive member of the community.

AKosygin's account of the story

Of the many people that were administrators to the site, EchoFox, Laughing Hyena, and ssjbigguy were some of the first, even during the EZBoard days. Ssjbigguy demonstrated interest in the Outlaw Star series and seemed fairly responsible for the work as an administrator and was soon promoted to become the Admin of the EZBoards and phpBB version of the boards. His initiatives contributed to the design and arrangements of certain aspects of the boards, including a forum banner that incorporated the names of the three sites in which were representing the Outlaw Star fan community: OutlawStar.NET, OutlawStar.ORG, and The Starwind Network. His initiative in managing the forums led to me allowing him the free hand to do almost anything as he sees fit. However, sometimes people change, and a responsible administrator became an irresponsible type.

The posting of the links to pornographic images and subsequent warnings about his abrasive attitude towards new members as an administrator would have been no more than a short demotion/warning. However, insubordination and the subsequent actions to delete threads was the final straw that led to the permanent and total demotion and banning. Ego and pride seems to be a major issue/topic with Vincent, even into the arguements of the documentation of his contributions, and in his presentation of the events that has occurred with him that he has documented on the OutlawStar.NET wiki.

Vincent's contributions are definitely many (though not as critical as he seems to make it), but by no means were all of them good or bad. I appreciate his desire to expand the topics and discussions, his many contributions to Outlaw Star fandom, and OutlawStar.NET; however, he has proven to me that he is of an irresponsible type when it comes to being a person in a place of power, easily subjected to corruption. Whatever the base motive maybe, I felt that it was a betrayal of trust of significant magnitude that such trust may never be restored or gain in any respect anywhere at anytime (I.E.: I can only trust Vincent as far as I can throw him... and I probably can't throw him at all, so absolutely no trust there.), though... this is nothing that I will lose sleep over.

Vincent's Side of the Story

Vinnie was once the most badass administrator ever. His underlings loved and adored him, and the staff around him worshipped his ways. One day, Vinnie was toppled by the combined powers of a giant butthole and an Asian guy with long hair and a sword. So he took a break for a few years, in which the board completely died. Since he was bored, he decided to re-surface, knowing his old underlings would now accept their former king as one of their own. It was a tough transition, as tensions were often high, but the board has been restored thanks to his annoying amount of posting. He is now a vital member and the top poster on the forum. He will one day rise to power again, except probably not because he's older now and doesn't really care.
