Spambot

A spam bot is a program written for the express purpose of spamming. Often these bots will register accounts on message boards and then post about how your penis is too small or about how to obtain V!@gr'a, C!@l!s, any number of painkillers, or other prescription drugs. They are despised by approximately 99% of the internet, the remaining 1% being the bastards that create them in the first place.

All too often these bots have predictable behavior that once noticed, can be used to hack your message board to automatically ban them when they try to register. Most of these traits include always selecting the very first option in any dropdown on the registration page. So, if you like, you can hack your forum with a dropdown where the first option is "I am a spam bot" and the second is "I am a real person", set "I am a real person" as the default, put text next to it instructing people to only change it if they are spam bots, and then write code to handle banning the IP address if someone selects the first option instead.
