Shimi (anime)

Shimi, first meets Gene as a man called Leilong. They meet in a bar that Gene is in, getting drunk so he doesn't have to think about an upcoming duel (ironically, a dual with Shimi). Gene doesn't know who the man next to him is, but the man despences a bit of advice that makes Gene feel a litte better, before he leaves.

Shimi is the first of the Anten Seven sent after Gene. He carries an large backpack with him, full of an assortment of weapons. He is a skilled dueler who has never been defeated. During their duel, he easily defeats Gene.

Witnessing this, Jim, Aisha, and Suzuka make a hasty attack and are also thoroughly defeated. Surviving with a wound to his ribs, Gene is challenged to a one-shot duel. Gene wins the duel due to Shimi having a faulty gun. Believed to be dead, he is buried but eventually digs himself out of his grave. Rather than continuing his life as an assassin, Shimi chooses to start his life anew as a wandering outlaw, having orchestrated his defeat and "death" for the purpose of removing himself from the Kei Pirates.
