Gilliam II is the onboard artificial intelligence of the XGP. He (it?) controls all functions of the ship except navigation; which is handled by Melfina; and combat manuvering. Gilliam has a number of small soda can shaped helper robots that are able to do work in zero gravity environments. He has also used these robots to wake up Gene, usually with no luck.
